The very few Orthodox Jews I met in NY stayed to themselves. Saying hello to a neighbor or a neighbor's guest was out of the question. Being from Texas, this struck me as an odd way to express one's spiritual beliefs to their neighbors!~

When I was growing up I had an "uncle" who was Jewish. He wasn't an uncle by blood or marriage but was a very close friend of the family and was every bit an uncle to me. Later while in my early twenties I found a job in the big city where he happened to live. He offered his house for me to stay in during the summer as he and his family spent the whole summer at their cottage some distance away from the city although he commuted serveral days a week from his business there. I took him up on it and it was great until his elderly mother decided to stay at the house for a couple of weeks. She promptly locked me out so that I had to call my uncle and tell him I couldn't get in. He said go back to the house it will be open once you get there and he sounded angry. Sure enough it was but it was very clear she didn't want me living there. To make it easy on everyone I only cooked one TV dinner for my meal ever evening then I would wash out the tinfoil plate it came in and put it in the household trash to be taken out at the end of the week.

Well the old lady saw that and tore a strip of of me for leaving dirty foodstuffs in the trash and that it would attract insects. I didn't tell her that the tin plates had been washed as it would seem like I was arguing, so I let it pass, but it certainly underlines what some of the older and perhaps more strict Jews must think of we gentiles.

I grew up in a door to door religion that was persecuted by the Germans . ( Im not active anymore) Almost Everytime I met a Jewish person going door to door , they were VERY unkind, condescending, rude and we used to severely dread going into Jewish Areas because of their animosity towards other religions, Christian and Non Christian.

I take it you are talking about my book The Gospel According to Acharya S. In that book, I am highly critical of the "chosen people" mentality and the notion that the Bible, for example, is held up to be "God's Word," that Israel is "the Holy Land," and so on. You were going to write a "glowing review" of that book, yet you take great offense at comments in a similar vein here.

You also take offense at me raising the fact that I am not addressing all Jews - and for daring to bring up my experience with my beloved deceased friend, who was the godmother to my son - so that I can fend off the very smear you have just labeled me with. In fact, she would be appalled and offended by your smearing me, Saul, as she herself suffered greatly at the hands of this very same cultic mentality that Haaretz and I are discussing.

I think people beleive that if one adopts a particular religous belief, they are somehow "made perfect" and no longer exhibit attitudes,behaviours or actions "not perfect". IMHO, human beings can "f**k up a two car funeral" so what makes us think that beleiving a certain religous doctrine makes someone "holier than thou?". Thank you for your query and comments. My beloved friend - now unfortunately deceased - was born and raised an ultra-Orthodox Jew in Brooklyn. Her father was a Polish rabbi who survived Auschwitz, as did her mother, also a Polish Jew. Her first husband was an ultra-Orthodox Rabbi, by whom she had her first child. She disclosed to me a number of disturbing aspects of the ultra-Orthodox community in which she was born and raised, including the strange rituals concerning women.

When she was married, she had to shave her head and wear a wig, as is the custom of Hassids and Haredi. She also had to test herself on a daily basis to see if she was "niddah" or had menstrual blood. If so, she could not touch her husband for fear of him becoming "polluted." If she did touch him, he could beat her.

At one point, she lost custody of her child because she failed to keep a kosher home. She took him and fled the country. At that point, she was no longer involved in the ultra-Orthodox community. In fact, she jumped out of the frying pan into the fire by becoming involved with an Egyptian man, by whom she eventually had two children. He was, as you may have guessed, a Muslim, and he became ever more fanatical as she became increasingly tied to him. He eventually beat the crap out of her, at which point she had to escape from him. Luckily, she was in the U.S. and was able to do that legally, although it was a brutal struggle.

This amazing woman was one of the most extraordinary human beings I have ever encountered, a living Buddha who had escaped all cultic mindsets but who had not entirely rejected all culture. In fact, she was very cultured, speaking Hebrew, Yiddish, English, French and Arabic and retaining the best of all cultures she had experienced.

If she had stayed in her ultra-Orthodox community, she and I would never have become friends. She was my sister in the truest sense of the word, and I still love her. In fact, she helped me in many immense ways during some of the darkest times of my life.

I'm sorry, I had three horrid experiences with Orthodox Jewish men in NYC. I don't know why they are so disgusting and sneaky but it seems that it is just a fact. One of them came into a councilman's office where I had a job for the summer. I was typing and he walks up to me and asked a question in a shaky voice. I hesitantly looked up and slightly around, my first mind telling me not to. This idiot had his schlong out in full view. When I looked at him in shock, he had grabbed that disgusting "orthodox jewish dick" and was masterbating almost in my face. I was only 15, but a beautiful black 15 and in all my years had never seen such an atrocity as that! When I began to scream, he ran out of the office into the hallway. I was too shakey to go after him...jerk!

The time before that I was walking on Wall Street, when one of those f**kers called me over to his car. As I approached what do I see? Guess. Yes, another jewish prick...I was 13. They must reallly like them young.

The first time I was walking home from IS61 and this f**ker was sitting on the school bench and as I walked by he was rubbing himself, although he didn't say anything to me. I do believe these orthodox jew pedofiles are just filthy pigs...I have reason to believe it.

I parked my very nice sports car in front of my good friend's house located in a beautiful hillside of Los Angeles. I often receive compliments on the car and out-of-the-blue offers to buy it come often. A woman who was in her boyfriend's truck once leaned out the window to gush over how much she loved my car. Her boyfriend said nothing but looked too before driving off. I thanked her, naturally, and felt good about the compliment. The validation that I'd made a good purchase added to the joy of driving and owning the car. It brought me a lot of pleasure.

That day, as it was parked in front of a friend's charming and well-kept home in what seemed like a quite neighborhood, my car was egged, not once but twice. Someone had spent some thought and time in degrading me and my car. It could only be jealousy. When I stood beside the car and notice the dried egg yolk and shells on the driver-side window I wondered who didn't want me to see while driving or to enjoy car ownership. I looked around and saw a bunch of orthodox boys clustered around an old beaten-down black sedan, not an attractive car at all. It looked like the first thing they could afford and the black paint was dull and chipped. I could see this from a distance. They were watching me and my reaction as they stood beside their old vehicle. I knew instantly they'd egged my car by how much attention they were paying to me and the way they smiled at each other while pretending to not look at me. They were acting sly. Then one got into the car and sped very fast and hostilely toward me. He drove past flashing a sinister expression. I gave him the most evil eye that I could manage to let him know that he's a piece of sh*t. Then I looked back up at the others and stared at them until they went back into their home. They were sexist xenophobes and punk college age boys who would never be decent men. They'll always abuse women, cheat and talk tough and attack innocent people. Their religious beliefs allow them to harm others. Their religion praises them for attacking others.

But I've always realized it's jealousy that provokes it. More than anyone else, Hassidic Jews star at me when I'm driving as they walk along the street with ridiculous curly cues hanging down their face dressed in all black clothing and long coats. They look depressing and zombieish. I look vibrant and healthy. They want to believe that my life is worth less than there's but I'm having a lot of fun and have freedom of thought that they don't enjoy. They can watch in envy but I only find it annoying that they waste their time thinking they can stop me from living my life on my terms.

I carefully got all of the egg off of my car that day but I still occasionally of throwing a molotov cocktail at the car those b*ttwipes drove to give them a taste of their own medicine. They asked for it. Unfortunately they were too much of lowlife cowards to confront me face-to-face and had to be so childish as to throw eggs instead of acting like men, so I didn't get the chance to tell them to their face that they are ugly worthless low-lives and beat their car in with a bat. Unfortunately they got away with it. Low-live often get away with it precisely because they are low-lives.

The orthodox are jealous people. They attack better people who don't destroy the low-lives because better people don't violate others and show respect for others or at least mind their own business. I didn't go out of my way to initiate a fight the way they did, because being moronic low-lives they waste their time going out of their way to attack others and pick fights. There were three young men against one woman and they took comfort in the safety of thinking they could over power me. But they can't over power me. The only thing that stopped me was that I'm doing too many productive things with my life that bring me too much pleasure to spend a day in jail for bashing up their car and house windows with a bat and maybe hitting a few low-lives over the head for throwing eggs at my car unprovoked.

Still, many Christians continue to flat out deny that such texts were ever written by Jews, ascribing their invention to devious anti-semitic web sites, such is the power of faith, i.e., believing what you want to believe. After looking into this book, along with its emulator-in-rancor, the Koran, all I can say is, Jesus never looked better!

I've lived in Israel among Arabs and Jews, China among Buddists and Taoists, the American South among Fundamentalists, Los Angeles among Jews of many sects, New England with Catholics, and I've seen many good people, as well as fools, regardless of their faith. Regardless of where I am and who I am among, if I am decent to people and kind, I have often found myself invited into homes for meals, given places to rest, and a listening ear for my aches and pains. I have had little injustice done to me based on my faith differences.
Whatever God you believe in, much about the God is about creation, love, and humanity. Not cruelty. Crazy people due to their own craziness inflict cruelty. Please use caution when focusing on certain faiths.

It's despicable- the whole lot of these religions who're fighting with each other and the rest of the world, mostly most passionately over ownership of the so-called 'Holy Land' They're the cause of almost all the problems of the world today, and for the past 2500 years.

The Operating Systems originating from that 'Holy Land' factory is bug-ridden, and only seems to breed viruses of hatred, bigotry and hypocrisy. And that's been the case for the past 2500 years or more. It's time to drop these bulky OSs for something peaceful and stable. IT guys take the hint- Choose Linux.

In my view anything or anyone extremist is on same bag just as the taliban or the extreme relgious evangelical right. Orthodox Jews are backward extremists that continue to damage the image the great country of Israel has projected for so many years now. They belong to another world just like the taliban or the evangelical christians. No difference at all in my view.

The priests that get abused and/or spat on should make it a big deal because if it was the other way around then we will see it on CNN and on the evening news for an entire week.

I keep hearing the mantra "Gods chosen people". Does anyone bother to ask which God has chosen these people? If memory serves me right the storybook called the bible claims Jesus as describing who is their God. Any wonder why they hate jesus and anyone who follows christian concepts? Do any of these naive christians bother to explore what jesus meant and expand on it by seeking to uncover what these chosen actually follow or believe? Does anyone in their own belief system know what they are really following?

If there is only one Creator and this Creator made everything in creation including all of us (in its image) how can one honestly believe that this "one Creator" would alienate all of its creation by choosing only one group of people as his own just because they obey certain rules and regulations allegedly coming from this Creator? This could not be a Creator who exemplifies UNCONDITIONAL LOVE for all its creation, but must be a lesser "God" who requires complete obedience to whatever it dictates to its chosen flock not to mention the need for untold sums of money through "tithing" and obviously cannot exist without his minions sacrificing for him, whether it be humans or lesser living things. Why would a one true Creator need for one aspect of his creation to sacrifice another aspect of this own creation, unless of course this is a lesser "god" of a questionable nature needing to "feed" off the misery of those sacrificed? If a true one Creator is conditional, biased, racist or egotistical and needs to sacrifice "his son", humans. animals or whatever it takes to please him or the need to force its will upon any of its creation then, as an example, the founders of America are completely naive and in error of their perception of this Creator mentioned in the Declaration of Independence, whom is supposed to have bestowed upon all of humankind unalienable Rights of which FREE WILL and CHOICE are the foundations of all other rights. Which belief system truly supports our unalienable Rights not given by man/ governing bodies but by a one true Creator? Which Belief system supports unconditional LOVE for all mankind and creation? Which belief system truly supports unconditional peace and compassion with all creation? Which belief system truly supports unconditional equality betwenn all men, women and the rest of creation? Should these not be the primary guiding principles and measurement of what any true true religion or belief system would support?

Since no belief system supports these basic principles why do humans follow them? Why do humans follow belief systems that support "my god is better than your god" and "I am superior to anyone who does not follow my particular belief" nonsense? Is there some unknown or unseen force in control of this part of creation that has all or most of us mesmerized where we cannot distinguish truth from lies or deceptions?

It is said that by ones actions you will know them. Just look at what these belief systems teach and practice and you will know who their God really is.

Look at the belief system each of us is indoctrinated into, that defines who and what we are to become. If a human being is indoctrinated practically from birth into anyone of the belief systems on planet earth, doesnt it make sense to analyse very carefully and closely what these beliefs entail and who their "god" really is and what it wants/demands from its followers? Doesnt it make sense to reveal and expose ALL the contents of these belief systems for review by all the world so we can see what is actually guiding the human race?

It appears that the origins regarding the problems of this world will not be traced back to a race, anyones color, nationality or gender but will eviidently be discovered to come from whatever belief system(s) we have allowed ourselves to be conditioned with.

If we are to be honorable beings and desire to evolve into a higher state of awareness or consciousness, a complete scrutiny of all the belief systems would give us the answers we seek in order to initiate the necessary changes to making this a better world in which to cultivate these pursuits. Will the powers that be allow this? Will the leaders of every religion out there open their books to a full investigation? Only through full disclosure will we know all of the driving mechanisms that have propelled us from one calamity to another and why there can never be any lasting peace and harmony in this world.

The fact is these belief systems as presented to us are an insult to anyone who believes they possess any intelligence, rationality, reason or common sense. A true spiritually oriented individual would not embrace anyone of them for none of them teach about unconditional love, peace and equality with all living things made by a true Creator. Does any of their supporters/flock still love another even if they do not believe in what they follow or do? I understand that the NT has jesus saying to "love one another" but none of them actually follow what he is claimed to have taught for they ridicule "non-believers" just like islam and judaism do with those who are outside of their belief systems. If they didn't there would be no wars, hatred and utter chaos by those thinking they are better than the rest. But what if all their scriptures are nothing more but based upon symbolism and allegory and what they all take literally is mythology? What is sad of all is we continue to brainwash generation after generation with the same nonsense as past and current events/history reveals but we never learn or is this part of our learning experience as to why we are here?

Hopefully anyone reading these comments will take the time to think for themselves, leave behind any prejudices and undertake the difficult task of examing who and what they are and how they think based upon what was learned or inputted into their brains since birth, allowing for enough strength and wisdom to make the necessary changes to improve oneself. Here is where REAL change can begin and manifest outwardly to make a better world.

With enough inner guidance maybe we will learn that this Creator is a very high form of light and if we are made in its image our true being is of a photonic nature where we can awaken to who we really are and free ourselves from the prison called flesh and the world it is attached to. Religions/belief systems should be teaching its flock this truth that will set us free. All they presently teach under threats, duress and coersion is to obey them or else suffer eternal damnation, here or in the afterlife. From what we have learned to date is following them actually keeping us enslaved and complacent where they continue to divide and conquer us, keep us confused, ignorant and in FEAR, preventing us from knowing our true natures and all the harmony and true love that comes with it?

We must all ask these "religious leaders" why they do not teach us how to break free to experience reall love, harmony and unity with all of creation, which is true freedom not the illusions given to us by false gods, man and his creations. We will never know TRUE FREEDOM if we remain in bondage to the flesh and this world.
