Paganist protests as health visitor tells her to move items

A follower of paganism claims a health visitor told her she should put her religious items away because of the effect they could be having on her son.

Jemma Hawkins, 29, receives regular visits from a mental health home treatment team because of her bi-polar disorder.

But on one of these visits, Mrs Hawkins says the health visitor told her she should remove pagan images and accessories from her living room because of her concerns for her 10-year-old son David...

'I was really angry because Wicca is a recognised religion.

'You wouldn't go into a Muslim's home and ask them to take down their religious items would you?'

This last point is a doozy - imagine this healthcare worker telling a Muslim to do that!  The "peaceful religion" and all that jazz...

Christianity is a program which puts false guilt/shame, low self esteem and general hate for all higher and healthy life. While projecting all its disgusting vile and evil onto Paganism.

  • Maxwell Jennings  - Control Freaks
Control freaks can be such annoying whiners.

Change the channel, close the book, cover your eyes and ears or do anything to remove yourself from the influence of opposing views if you are so easily offended, but don't expect people of other faiths or non-beliefs to comply with your control-freakiness.

I had a control-freak christian at myspace tell me to remove an image I made of a priest with fist full of dollars and the title "Religion - Controlling Idiots for thousands of years". I wrote back and said his profile picture of the christian cross could be considered offensive but I would never request of anyone to remove such an image because I'm not a control freak! Friend request denied!

It seems that old adage that the idols of one religion are the demons of another still rings true.

"It seems that old adage that the idols of one religion are the demons of another still rings true."

Brenton, I have pasted your comment as such; as I liked it so much. I suppose, you couldn't express it better. Endorse it whole heartedly.
    Great.

    The waters are being tested.
  • Mark  - bi-polar disorder?
Just had to add that the article should read "alleged" bi-polar disorder, since there is never any proof that anyone has this supposed disorder. It's just a means to sell drugs 99% of the time.
I don't think it is wise for anyone to push any religion on anyone, but it is their right to be as superstitious and ignorant as they choose for themselves.
  • Robert Tobin  - Mr
Many years ago my father who was at that time a practising Roman Catholic spent about a week in a Roman Catholic hospital. His provate room was tiny and on the wall facing him was a large cross with this dead Jew nailed to it. Dad was not happy about having to look at it all day. Most of the nursing staff were Nuns, ao he had to be carefull what he said.

  • Terry B  - Why worry: You cannot Die
Every civilization realize they did not make themself, and thus create supposedly higher Beings which are made responsible for making them. They gave these Being ultimate power and divinity. Because all humans are creators there is no limit to what they can create. The problem we now face is that the religious systems are promoting beliefs as factual occurrances. Knowingly people in seats of power seek to keep others ignorant by teaching that to believe is to know. This madness they enforced by adding fear to the equation...Believe or go to hell...

All religions teaches that you cannot die, but I find that this is not understood by anyone with whom I tried to reason....It is so simple: Good guys go to heaven to live with their creator forever...Bad guys go to hell to be with the Devil forever. Either way one does not die according to the teachings of religions. Often times I'm told that people would go mad if they didn't have somethig to believe in.....What do you think?
  • Dr. Arthur Frederick Ide  - The invention of Christianity
I am disgusted with christianity--a religion created by the Emperor Constantine when he called in warring factions of bishops (including the ill-regarded and weak bishop of Rome whom everyone basically ignored) to meet with him at Nicea. There he called for an end of bloodshed between various sects and cults and officially established christianity as a religion (it did not become the official religion of the empire until the end of the fourth century) and initially charged his church to follow the testaments of Arius (Arianism) and supported the British monk Pelagius over Augustine (a common patron of whores--spawning Adeodatus [Gift of the gods] as he wrote in his City of God (Civitatis Deus) before being browbeaten by his mother Monica and Ambrose of Milan. The christian religion incorporated most pagan symbols (the bible has Jesus dying on a pole) such as the cross that crucified Prometheus, "Mother of God" the title given to Isis of Egypt, "Christmas treees" from the worship of Odin, etc. It is time that people of reason demand that all pagan objects of Christianity be removed or that the church lose its tax exempt status and be required to charge people an admission fee into its world of fantasies.

Excuse me, but the descrimination by government workers isnt just limited to pagan and wica religions and symbols, they have said the same thing about Christian ones as well (I never seem to hear it about Jewish symbols though, perhaps they are scared about being called anti-semetic). A while back I read where a couple after meeting all other requirements for adopting a child were denied that adoption because the social worker said they were too religious since they had their religious symbols out where she could see them..one picture and one cross.

Idiots come from all walks of life that dont seem to understand that our constitution says hands off when it comes to ANY religious practice, pagan or otherwise unless it obviously breaks other laws...we dont exactly permit infant sacrifice nowdays.

No ...Constantine did not create Christianity, just officially estabilished the Catholic Church. Ethopia and Armania had estabilished Christian religions as well, The Ethopian church tried Roman Catholisim for about three years before breaking away again from it. The Roman Church has been said to be simply the Babalon religion remade with a disguise of Christianity. And yes...a nice money making, power mongering organization for the most part, the list of Papal misdeeds are amazing. Asside from the political intreages and poisionings, we even have one Pope saying "It has served us well, this myth called Jesus".

Jesus warned that there would be many false teachers and prophets coming after him, and that we would know them by the fruit of their works. John of the book of Revelations points a finger directly at Rome, the city of 7 hills. The future church (Catholism) was called a 'whore", and drunk with the blood of Martyrs.

And there is a warning in that scripture that even the unreligioius might want to heed....that in the "last days' there will be renewed persecution by a combined state and church institution once again.
The mark of the beast....a number of a man... God on earth (vicar of Christ). Most Christians belive this will also be a computer system that basises rations of goods and services depending on your status and implantation of a chip. Somthing that some big corporations now endorse for identification. I beleive the Hurst company is one of them.

Religion has ever been an excuse for those who are simply greedy, either for money or power or both.
  • Michael Morrissey  - Ragnarok or Revelation
If you have even heard of the Ragnarok, the last book of the Viking legends, the world ends and all the Gods die including Odin. All that remains at the Tree Of Life is a man and a woman. Isn't that how one should understand "Ancient Religious Initiations", all those who pass the test are people who desire a Partner who loves and likes them as much as they love and like the Partner.
  • Rick
I sometimes feel like a 3rd grader when I read some of the postings. There are some extremely intelligent people here. I don't know how they can rebut without having their blood pressure rise, like me.

Keep up the great work. Some of these rebuttals are priceless.

Murdock's Who Was Jesus? had been available to me." —Bob Semes, Retired university professor of History and Religion, Founder and Executive Director of The Jefferson Center

"In addition to presenting in Suns of God the troubling history of religious wars in an easily followed narrative, Acharya goes a step further, explaining as only she can how a once-simplistic idea has been carried into our modern world with terrible and nearly unimaginable results." —Rev. Dr. W. Sumner Davis, Fellow, Royal Astronomical Society; Member, American Geophysical Union; Affiliate, New York Academy of Science

"Ms. Murdock is one of only a tiny number of scholars with the richly diverse academic background (and the necessary courage) to adequately address the question of whether Jesus Christ truly existed as a walking-talking figure in first-century Palestine." —David Mills, Atheist Universe
