UK teacher sacked for standing up to Muslim hate speech

E-mail Print PDF

A Greek Cypriot public school teacher in Great Britain was fired from his job, allegedly because he made some comments about a Muslim girl's headscarf and the superiority of Christianity over Islam. The teacher himself, however, denies the allegation and claims that he was sacked because he wouldn't "put up with the 'racist' and anti-Semitic' behaviour of his pupils."

Apparently, this morass of appeasing Muslim hate speech is the marvelous result of the great British experiment in tolerating all aspects of "multiculturalism." Rather than following Great Britain and Europe down the road of becoming Islamized under sharia law, Americans - also a multicultural society - must uphold their laws and Constitution, and not accept all manner of sociopathology simply because "God" or "Allah" is invoked.

...Mr Kafouris, a Greek Cypriot, taught for 12 years at Bigland Green Primary School in Tower Hamlets, East London.

He claims he was forced to leave his £30,000-a-year job because he would not put up with the 'racist' and anti-Semitic' behaviour of his pupils. The predominantly Muslim youngsters, some as young as eight, openly praised Islamic extremists in class and described the September 11 terrorists as 'heroes and martyrs'.

One pupil said: 'Don't touch me, you're a Christian' when he brushed against him.

Others said: 'We want to be Islamic bombers when we grow up', and 'The Christians and Jews are our enemies - you too because you're a Christian'.

According to Ofsted 'almost all' the school's 465 pupils are from ethnic minorities and a vast proportion do not speak English as a first language.

Mr Kafouris claims racial discrimination by the school, its headmistress and her assistant head after they failed to take action about the pupils' comments.

He said there was a change in attitude of the pupils after the atrocities of September 11, 2001.

They told him: 'We hate the Christians' and 'We hate the Jews', despite his attempts to stop them.

He said he filled out a Racist Incident Reporting Sheet but claimed headmistress Jill Hankey dismissed his concerns...

Mr. Kafouris has filed a law suit in this case. Details are sketchy at present and should be followed to see just what the British courts will do.

Good! Please keep us updated on that.

Just exercising freedom of speech can be a revolutionary act. Thus, becoming an 'enemy of the state'.

The question is when common sense will prevail & our freedoms will be restored by the people.

Finally, someone just wrote a great book about a small town in America that stands up to federal tyranny & ends up starting the 2nd American Revolution.

Must read if u want to see what's coming in 2010.

For those who may think that Islam is all peace and love, here is a historical note:

The truncated red cap with a tassel known as fez has its origin in a historical event. Fez is a town in North Africa. When the town was overrun by the soldiers of Islam, they celebrated by dipping their caps in the blood of the slain Christians and Jews.

It's unbelievable that the head teacher Jill Hankey has ignored such a serious problem ocurring at her school by her young students. These matters must be addressed seriously and very quickly while these children are still young before idle tongues turn into dangerous actions. I've heard a lot of hate speeches before and they can get out of hand if not dealt with. What I can't understand about some of these Islamic ideologies that a minority of people carry is, why they come here in the frist place?. If they don't like us, our religion, culture or lifestyle, they can go home if they wish, they ireally is nothing stopping many of them to freely leave if they want to and go home if they want too, no one is forcing them to stay here nor interact with people they hate.

Dude these were 8 year old kids.
Are you telling me to account 8 year old kids with everything they say and chuck them in jail?
They are 8 year old kids, what do you expect. A jurisdiction or something?

Those kids got parents don't they?. Common sense dictates that they have to be accountable for the action of their kids. Or maybe not, let me try this with my own kids let me see how this work out with the authorities. I will let you know as soon I get out of jail.

Dude, in schools in civilized countries, children who make remarks like these are suspended and told never to do it again. Apparently, you would excuse them and let them keep doing it, so that when they grow up they will back up their hate speech with violence? Did you see the video of the 12-year-old Taliban who happily hacked off a man's head? He was 8 only four years before that.

And, it's only gotten worse over the past 2-3 years. Tower Hamlets is basically a Muslim city within a city now. Teachers are little more than zoo keepers at predominantly Muslim schools all over Europe.

I have to say, the situation in the schools here in the UK is fast becoming dangerous. I am a London teacher and yes, it is often the case that many if not most of the pupils in some of our schools speak little or no English.I have taught many (but not most) pupils who express intolerant and often fundamentalist/extremist views, quite openly and without fear of reproach . Anti-semitism is rife and many teachers are afraid to deal with it or simply feel unequipped or unsupported in their efforts.

In the college where I worked a vitally needed classroom was given over as a prayer room for Muslim students but nothing was offered to students of other religious faiths. Huge amounts of the educational budget is also allocated to provide translators for parent's evenings and other meetings. Violent and aggressive behaviour and verbal insults are commonplace and as for mysogony...it's heart breaking.

But there are also benefits. Once you put all that aside, remind yourself that these kids are our future and do the job you've trained for, you develop a relationship with them and you devote yourself completely to showing them an alternative way of living with others. Eventually, the barriers come down (humour is a valuable tool here). Despite what their parents may want, they eventually do what they choose...hell, they're just teenagers! Laugh with them, cry with them, share some music and try to educate them. They eventually learn english and make friends with kids from different cultures and faiths. Few of them want to return to their homelands. I love diversity and freedom and they learn to love it too.

Sadly, many of the problems we face here may soon be part of your reality too. Hopefully, you can learn from our mistakes. We have been told almost nothing about the young men who bombed and killed themselves and others in the heart of our city...but they all attended our schools.

I wish I could give you sound advice on this, but I have left teaching. Please support your teachers and find better ways to deal with this problem. There are other problems in your schools I've heard off such as gangs and guns. We have been more fortunate in that regard, so I take my hat of to those of you who have the courage to continue in what is becoming a dangerous profession.
