Some years ago, when everyone was passing around photos of the newly built structures off the coast of Dubai, my first thought was, "If climate change is raising sea levels, why on Earth would anyone build such things, which will only be flooded eventually?" So, it is not surprising at all to me that these pretty structures are in fact becoming flooded, not necessarily yet by rising ocean levels but by the fact that Dubai's islands are eroding and sinking.
The World is sinking: Dubai islands 'falling into the sea'
The islands were intended as the ultimate luxury possession, even for Dubai.
But the World, the ambitiously-constructed archipelago of islands shaped like the countries of the globe, is sinking back into the sea, according to evidence cited before a property tribunal.
The islands were intended to be developed with tailor-made hotel complexes and luxury villas, and sold to millionaires. They are off the coast of Dubai and accessible by yacht or motor boat.
Now their sands are eroding and the navigational channels between them are silting up, the British lawyer for a company bringing a case against the state-run developer, Nakheel, has told judges.
"The islands are gradually falling back into the sea," Richard Wilmot-Smith QC, for Penguin Marine, said. The evidence showed "erosion and deterioration of The World islands", he added.
With all but one of the islands still uninhabited – Greenland – and that one a showpiece owned by the ruler of Dubai, most of the development plans have been brought to a crashing halt by the financial crisis....
What a shame! Not. Dubai was largely built on the backs of some 300,000 laborers who are basically SLAVES, and its fundamentalist Islamic governance fosters serious human rights abuses. Some of the money pouring into this sleazy city comes from greedy internationalist powermongers like Donald Rumsfeld, Dick Cheney and Michael Bloomberg. Dubai is living on borrowed time because of its lack of fresh water and, environmentally speaking, was a really bad idea from the get-go. All in all, Dubai is a bad place with a terrible future.

Not so fast! This report came in 2007, but the BBC recently confirmed that nothing has changed, and the laborers remain in the same squalid conditions.

|2011-02-11 07:14:03 Kal - @ SD Bob PliksenYou act as if Christianity is itself pure and not evil. What about all those pedophile Priests the Vatican has done everything in its power to protect? How about the slave trade, importing millions of Africans into the Americas? What about the decimation of the Aztec, Maya and Inca cultures, all done in the name of your god? As for slavery, you still are a slave, to an obsolete book written 2000 years ago, full of contradictions and errors. As for time being real short, crackpots like you have been peddling that "The end is near" line for over a thousand years. Guess what, we're not going anywhere. As for the mark of the beast, how is an RFID chip a mark of the beast? I love how you religious zealots twist every little thing to suit your needs, and insist your faerie tale tome says it is so.

|2012-01-08 23:58:34 Scott - Bronze Age MythsYour Bronze Age mythology has, as its centerpiece, a GENOCIDAL deity. Anyone who worships a genocidal deity needs to be on meds.
I recommend that you actually READ the Bible (because clearly you have not) and recognize the abject poverty of morality it represents. You're spouting what you believe is in it and not what's actually in it.
Bronze Age mythology and all the new age babble you've added to your interpretation of what is NOT in that text, is irrelevant to the 21st century.
Religion is a CHOICE. Choose not to have any religion and become free.

|2011-02-11 20:56:42 NancyWater levels rising? Kidding surely? Have you tried melting ice cubes in a glass of water? Notice any change in "levels"? Of course not. Now, don't be so silly. Global warming is a myth, ocean levels rising a greater one.

|2011-02-11 22:37:21 AnonymousOkay, Clueless Nancy. Tell that to the people living on islands whose landmasses are clearly shrinking due to rising water levels.
Rising sea levels threaten small Pacific island nations
Of course, these people actually living on these islands wouldn't know - but Nancy does!

|2011-02-11 22:30:32 PaulineNancy,
Please do a test for yourself. Go fill a glass full of ice and then put as much water in it as you can to fill it up to the top. Finally, let it set.
Let us know what you find out, Nancy.

Uh, You have obviously not done your homework. 95% of all slave trade was controlled by the Jewish leaders of that time in one of the eastern states. You had to be very rich otherwise, and that was a small minority of whites. At that, they kept what they had as family units in most cases. I do not have any guilt for 150 year old fairy tales which don't exist today.

|2011-02-28 21:20:53 Acharya SThis thread is not about the African slave trade, about which I have known for over 40 years, having done plenty of "homework." Much of the slave trade was committed by Muslims, not just Jews and Christians.
Quote:Historians agree between 11 and 18 million Africans were enslaved by Arab slave traders and taken across the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, and Sahara desert between 650 and 1900, compared to 9.4 to 14 million Africans brought to the Americas in the Atlantic slave trade from 15th century to the early 19th century.
Arab slave trade
Islam and slavery
There is much more.

Hows it going these days in the land of the slave ((US unemploymed)) home of the despots of zion! Amazing heh? I was once a "slave" in America. I was a US Military soldier! (("obeying orders"
