Are you sure that site is 10000 years old? Could be more or less? I've never trusted time guessing methods.
Well... Norwegian researchers connected to the universities and museums depend on something called c-14, better known as carbon dating. I am amused by assumption of information that differs from Maxwell and his alien friends are perceived as pure guessing, and deserve less trust.
The earliest archeological finds from human activity in Norway is as early as around 10 500 BC.
Here is some confirmation I hope will interest. I spent some time finding documentation in English, so I hope you my effort is appreciated
The Ahrensburgian Galta 3 site in SW Norway Dating , technology and cultural affinity

http://www.hf.uio.no/iakh/personer/vit/ingrifu/Galta-3-IFuglestvedt.pdfThis is a picture from a site in eastern Norway, at a dig site called Paular. This is one part of a network of hunting posts and gathering "stations". Information is in Norwegian, but the fact sheet to check dating is outlined at the bottom of each dig site.

As I said before, this Maxwell character is nice entertainment. But beware of how easy it is to generate new myths out of old myths, and then claim historical evidence of myths founded on myths. The reason I am interested in Acharya and her work is because she deconstructs myths founded on myths, very different from people like Maxwell who constructs myths out of myths.
The attraction of easy answers and convenient solutions is a human flaw, not a personal. We all do it in different situations, so if I seem over the top critical, it is nothing personal.
The earlier comment more or less summarize my point. "Gotland, the land of god"......... Words are myth and have different meanings than before. To translate directly like mentioned above give no meaning. The Proto-germanic origin have little to do with our understanding today. Let me show you a similar example.
King - Our understanding today is related to monarchy and something close to head of state. We depict a crown, perhaps a castle, a throne and so on. The word king reflects certain cultural traits similar with most people.
The origin is somewhat different from the institutionalized and centralized system of power implemented under the rule of the Holy Roman Empire. The word king comes from Proto-norse, and is in one of the more common forms better known as
kjenning. English language still include
kin, a word closer to origin of the word king.
When I say next of kin, the origin reveals itself. A small society, or group of people, was often related and had some connection to a common bloodline. Family perhaps the correct definition. What can this tell us you probably wonder? Well... King in origin being reference to a leader of a family or community of people related at some degree, is very different from king being reference to a leader of people situated within a geographical area.
By examining origin of Gotland again, you will see that Gotland is not the land of god or gods as we understand those concepts. Gotland is the land of the Gauti, also known as Guti among other related versions. It is the land/island of a family/tribe, and follows the same Norse cultural and historical pattern as the rest. No Atlantis, no alien technology, no genetically engineered space family, no reptile blood, no hell spawn, no angels or any other fancy story roaming the world wide web.
This imagination behind people finding a religious/mythological connection to ancestral origin, where origin is some kind of superior, "ubermensch", chosen people, kind of thing is natural and have been promoted by humans all over the world for as long as we know.
