Here's an interesting lecture on consciousness as concerns paradigms, metaparadigms, and paradigm shifts.

I was getting a kick out of comparing the larger scale - and much more fundamental - paradigm shift towards the primacy of consciousness with the sub set paradigm shift taking place between historicists and mythicists at the moment. As Peter was describing the stages and evolution of a paradigm shift I couldn't help but to notice the phase we're in right now were historicists (like Bart Errorman) are stuck with trying to use the old model (epicycles as Peter says) to explain the new problems that have arisen. And it can not work. It will necessarily have to change.

So many points were made during this interview which we've touched on over the years here @ the forums. Our little mythicist movement going around the internet necessarily feeds into the overall Gaia concept that Peter touches on concerning humanity serving the function of the brain cells of the earth organism. That's an interesting way of looking at it.
