The Catholic Church Is Obsessed With Condemning The Sin Of Homosexuality.
Yet The Church Is Content To ignore The Sin Of Child Abuse From Within.
It is well known that the Catholic Church is heavily involved and making great efforts in the lobby effort, to have governments stop and ( where it exists) repeal gay marriage.
I just wish the Catholic Church would have applied the same zeal, effort and resources to deal with the pedophile Priests found within their own ranks.
What's a more important issue for the Catholic Church? The Pedophile Priests who infiltrated and infected their Priesthood, or stopping same sex marriage?
The answers obvious, isn't it?
Take a look at an old story from 2005, found in the New York Times. The article highlights the monumental effort made by the Catholic Church in Canada, to prevent Gay's from getting married. This was also the one rare time that a whole bunch of major religions got together, to fight a common cause.
(Interestingly enough, even though they had God on their side, the Religious groups lost their fight.)

When have you ever heard about Catholic groups, along with Muslims, Hindu's, Sikh's and Jews, all getting together to form a strategy to clean up their houses of worship? When have these groups fought in unison, in order to expose, have prosecuted and be rid of the Pedophiles and abusers within their ranks? How about, never!
The men only Catholic club, the Knights of Columbus, "has printed 800,000 postcards for distribution nationwide in a campaign that argues that the redefinition of marriage to include gay and lesbian couples would promote pedophilia, pornography and unsafe sex."
When have the Knights of Columbus printed even 500 postcards, let alone nearly a million and mailed them to the Vatican, demanding answers, as to how known Pedophile Priests were simply shuffled from Parish to Parish, creating a wake of innocent victims in their wake?
Try, never. Child welfare seems to have only crossed the Knights radar, under their false and incorrect assertion that homosexuality and pedophilia are correlated.
Without the issue of gay marriage for the Knights to rail against, I suspect that they would never have shown any concern for the welfare of children!
"The empirical research does not show that gay or bisexual men are any more likely than heterosexual men to molest children."
From recent events in Ireland, where's the outrage and public mailing campaigns from the Knights of Columbus?
"An inquiry into child abuse at Catholic institutions in Ireland has found church leaders knew that sexual abuse was "endemic" in boys' institutions."
From events in Canada, where sadly, there's no shortage of Priestly abuse scandals, from Mount Cashel run by the Christian Brothers, Priest Charles Sylvestre with nearly 50 victims alone. The shameful history of Protestant and Catholic run Native residential schools, that finally had Pope Benedict, in May 2009, issuing an apology for the abuse that the innocent children endured.
Knights of Columbus, where was outrage and activism in support of the hundreds and thousands of child victims, at the hands of your fellow Catholics and Christian brothers?
It's nothing short of a travesty, that Protestant Christians and Roman Catholics, pool their resources in order to condemn homosexual unions, yet do not make the same effort to condemn the tragic history of child abuse within their very own places of worship.
Wouldn't the world be a better place if the Religious Institutions made a concerted and unified effort, with the intent of rooting out the abusers from within their Church's?
Yes of course, but making the world a better place, is historically, not the concern of the religious.
For shame.
