LOL... and the case can even be made that Satan didn't directly kill Job's children...

In defense of "God", many of those stories are metaphors for annihilating egos...in order to conquer the "promised land" which has nothing to do with Israel but has everything to do with ourselves... but then many of those stories were made up by corrupt Pharisee-like Jewish priests to keep the goyim under control... "God" never commanded the Israelites to sacrifice animals on an altar, to commit incest, or to annihilate every living thing to take over a city, or to take virgins as booty... and yet Bible thumpers have no answers for these things...they dance around these issues like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers lol

Are we talking about the same bible?

Where in the bible does god say the murder of human life was just metaphor?

There's no way for us to believe God didn't accept incest - how were the children of Adam & Eve ever meant to multiply?

The bible certainly endorses taking women and children as spoils of war and dividing up the virgins and babies:

Num. 31:18-40
Deut. 20:14
II Chron. 28:8

The God of the bible endorses all sorts of sacrifices including both animal & human:

Burning your son as a sacrifice II Kings 3:27

Genesis 22:2 "And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of."

Exodus 22:29 "For thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits, and of thy liquors; the firstborn of thy sons shalt thou give unto me."

How many has God killed?
http://forums.truthbeknown.com/viewtopic.php?t=2381

"If God killed at least 2.3 million in the Bible and Satan killed only 10, I guess this means you are at least 230,000 times more likely to die at the hands of God than at the hands of the Devil. "

Hey Freethinkaluva I'm not disagreeing with you at all! Of course those things are in the Bible. I'm just saying "God" didn't really say and do those things, and that much of the Bible is a collection of older myths that contained allegories about how to dissolve egos in order to awaken consciousness, and not to be taken literally. For instance the Kabbalists knew that Cain represented the ego and Abel represented the Inner Being, or God within. It was the Jewish priests that took those myths and turned them into the literal jealous-tyrannical-idiot-God-in-the-sky stories. Like Moses for example, leading the "Israelites" across the "Red Sea". In older stories it wasn't God who split the waters but the collective conscious will of the people through their faith... The literal interpretation of the Bible is for the goyim....

Peace, love, it's all good lol....
