The title of this post is a truth of course.
I would say that atheists love the sinners and hate the sin.
I am not exactly an atheist but closer to them than the usual theist. My God is not their God by a long shot.
That aside. The non believer who will hate the believer is the one who has been told to turn or burn without his objection to whatever issue is being discussed with the theist having been resolved and the theist just pulling rank because his God says it is right and that that makes whatever issue under discussion being won, if you will by the theist.
This first link points to this phenomena and my thoughts on it while the second quote shows why some non believers begin to hate the sinners and not the sin.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjxZ6MrB ... re=related"Whoever imagines himself a favorite with God,
holds other people in contempt.
Whenever a man believes that he has the exact truth from God,
there is in that man no spirit of compromise.
He has not the modesty born of the imperfections of human nature;
he has the arrogance of theological certainty and the tyranny born of ignorant assurance.
Believing himself to be the slave of God,
he imitates his master,
and of all tyrants,
the worst is a slave in power."
--Robert Ingersoll
I would be upset with non believers but really, reciprocity is fair play.
