Jesus and the Story of Osiris and Horus (William Lane Craig)
Dr. Craig begins by claiming the concept of comparing Jesus to Pagan religion began in Germany in the 19th century and that the case for mythicism fell apart because there are no primary sources to back up the claims.
- We know this to be utterly false as Christ in Egypt: The Horus-Jesus Connection is a nearly 600 page book with over 2,400 footnotes/citations to over 900 sources in the bibliography full of the primary sources that Dr. Craig claims doesn't exist.
Then, starting around 2:30 he argues that Jesus was a Jew and that the New Testament is up against the back drop of 1st century Judaism. Therefore, 19th century Germany started the whole anti-semitism sentiment that eventually led to the Nazi's. So, according to William Lane Craig, Hitler and the Third Reich is all the fault of mythicists.
- This claim by Dr. Craig of accusing mythicists of being responsible for Hitler's Third Reich is so outrageously malicious that it doesn't even deserve a response. Dr. Craig owes mythicists an apology.
At around 4:10 Dr. Craig mentions Zeitgeist and Dr. Mark Foreman. The following links prove these guys embarrassingly wrong:
* As if that's not enough, the 'William Lane Craig' Youtube channel is too cowardice to allow comments on the video above and you can't even send a message to contact them to send them the above links unless you've subscribed to his channel and you've been added to his contacts; meaning, you're a fan of some sort and are never critical.
This is basically what Dr. Bart Ehrman does as well - many people have tried to post Acharya's responses at Ehrman's blog or videos and rather than try to prove them wrong, which he can't, he just refuses to allow them to be posted as if they never existed. The end result is that people are misled into believing Ehrman has had the last word on the matter when nothing could be further from the truth. People like Dr. Ehrman and Dr. Craig get the media press while Acharya's work proving them wrong gets ignored. These cowards hide behind their Ph.D's in the fallacious form of credentialism even as they've been proven wrong repeatedly. If people knew about the utter dishonesty in New Testament scholarship there would be serious backlash.
Easy indeed. He essentially circumvented any actual discussion of Osiris mythology (making it transparent that he knows little to nothing about it) by chasing the red herring of the Jewishness of Jesus. Unfortunately for Craig, Judaism and Paganism were not oil & water.

And that 1st century Judaism was itself in a backdrop of the pagan Roman/Hellenistic world. And Judaism in its origins developed in the backdrop of the Mesopotamian/Canaanite pagan worlds. And the alleged origins proposed by the Old Testament itself places the origins of Judaism in the backdrop of the Egyptian world.
The Bible itself admits that time and time and time again the Jews continually turned on yhwh and engaged in paganism.
Craig is being obstinate if he thinks that Jews were somehow immune to the rampant syncretism that abounded in the Graeco-Roman world out of which Christianity arose. "A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump."
